How To Care For Real Leather Bags and Suede Leather Bags

The main key of preserving leather handbags etc., is cherishing and treating the leather goods with care during usage. Do not overload or manhandle your leather products. Also to preserve your leather goods, the user has to avoid abrasion, sharp objects, moisture, oil substance, rain and dirt when using the bags or briefcase, especially for lighter color leather goods.

Even the best of cowhide leather bags, with time the leather surface loses its resiliency and luster. Therefore, user should apply leather care cream to the leather products every now and then. But make sure to test the leather care product first on an obscure area on the leather handbags purses or briefcase, etc., to make sure it does not create a stain or oil spot, this is especially important to test first, if you want to apply leather cream to a glove leather, as the nature of the leather soaks up the oil and will create an oil spot on the leather bag if you are not careful. Do not use any chemicals or cleaning solutions. Please make sure you read all the instructions before applying any leather cream to your leather bags.

For cleaning suede or chamois leather products if it gets dirty on the surface, you may gently wipe the dirt off with an eraser. When you are doing the maintenance, remember to brush the grain of the leather evenly following its nature direction using a soft hair brush. However, try it first on a small obscure area to make sure it is workable before applying to the complete handbag. It is very important to avoid water on the suede bags, as it will shrink the leather and distort the shape of the handbag.

If your leather bag is not in season, you can clean and store the bags in the closet. Make sure the closet has low humidity. It is better that you store the leather handbag or briefcase in a fabric bag, and stuff the bag with soft dry paper to keep the shape of your leather product.
